Construction
The Remix is a hardwearing reel made from 6061 bar-stock aluminum, so it can stand up to whatever challenges you throw at it. It boasts a die cast spool with radiused compound curves. Another smart detail from Waterworks Lamson is the inside corners, which have a near zero-radius for improved performance.
The frame is CNC machined for better durability while remaining lightweight for a comfortable fishing experience. This build delivers maximum structural rigidity, so you won’t need to worry about it breaking!
The Remix reels also come with a lifetime warranty for the first owner, which offers peace of mind. You won’t need to worry about this fly reel – it’s been made to last!
Lamson describes the Remix as having a large arbor, although we’d say it’s closer to medium-size. It has a backing capacity of 100 yards.
Overall, the fit and finish are neat and tidy, with superb mechanical integrity. The painted spool may take some getting used to, but it doesn’t affect the performance at all.

Weight
The Remix comes in at 4.95 ounces, which is a good weight for an entry-level model. It should balance out your fly rod nicely!
Drag System
The Remix has a smooth drag system, just like you’d expect from any Lamson fly reel. However, when it comes to power, it’s lacking. The maximum drag is a disappointing 1.4 lbs, so you’ll struggle to haul in any large (or even medium-sized) fish. Don’t expect to catch any whoppers when you’re using this setup!
Combine that with the heavy startup inertia, and it’s an unsatisfying result. This factor is the biggest letdown when it comes to Remix reels, which are otherwise a good low-cost product.
